Hear from our Computer Course Participant Layla

Layla Bapir Rashu 25 years Kabarto camp, Duhok (Internally Displaced Person) “I encourage girls to always seek improvement in their capacities, because it truly depresses a person to live without productivity and do the same thing over and over, without any benefit. The Computer Course at Weh Center enabled me to break my cycle of depression and anxiety. From being unqualified for several job opportunities due to my lack of computer knowledge, I am now positively knocking on several doors, that were once closed for me.” Layla's story is one of resilience in the face of adversity. After her father passed away, Layla and her family faced several financial struggles. Despite the challenges, Layla was determined to create a stable environment for herself and her family. She enrolled in a computer course at Weh center and gained valuable skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Layla's increased confidence has not only resulted in her actively seeking new job opportunities but has also benefited the family – she is able to teach and help her younger brother. Her story highlights the importance of skills development for women to take active participation in the workforce.
